The skin is the body's largest organ and most of our exposure to harmful chemicals is a result of absorption through its fifteen layers.

Mass-produced beauty products contain harmful chemicals such as parabens, triclosan, phtalates and sodium laureth sulphate - chemicals which biochemists have linked to everything from skin irritation to prematue ageing.

PARABENS Mimic oestrogen and may be implicated in breast cancer and reduced male fertility.

TRICLOSAN Used in toothpaste, soap, body and vaginal washes. Can be converted into dioxin, a known carcinogen, when exposed to sunlight or water.

SODIUM LAURETH SULPHATE Used in thousands of products, from toothpaste to soap, to produce lather. Is absorbed, but not metabolised, by the liver. Its effects are cumulative and long-lasting.

PHTALATES Toxic and carcinogenic. Manufacturers have no legal obligation to tell you if they are present in their products.

COLLAGEN Makes your skin appear smooth and wrinkle free but cannot be absorbed. It therefore starves the skin of oxygen.

PARFUM An all-embracing term describing almost 200 man-made chemicals. Manufacturers do not have to tell you what they are.

Our products are hand-made, to order, from entirely natural ingredients. They contain no synthetic preservatives or other nasties which could damage your skin. We carry no stock - we don't believe in leaving body care products stacked on shelves, their lives prolonged by the addition of chemical cocktails of dubious value.
